There is only a limited amount of publicly available material about the artist Andrée Serrault. She was a French painter active in the mid-20th century and associated with circles around the École de Paris or local French art associations. Her name appears in some exhibition lists from the period, but she is not among the most well-known names, which is not unusual as many female artists of the time received limited publicity despite solid education and exhibition activity.

The piece is framed with a hand silvered frame.
