Emilio Grau Sala was a Spanish painter and illustrator celebrated for his lyrical, colorful style and his role in the Parisian art scene of the 20th century. He studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Barcelona. Together with his wife Ángeles Santos Torroella, he fled to Paris at the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. Grau Sala’s paintings are recognizable for their vivid colors, fluid brushwork, and romantic subjects. His canvases often depict elegant Parisian interiors, lively scenes of the theatre and circus, female portraits, and sun-drenched Mediterranean landscapes.

The piece is framed with a hand painted dark red frame and is placed on a light background.

Please note that few flaws caused by the piece’s age like a pinholes, a smaller tear at the right side as well as a few dents that have been straightened. This has all been accounted for in the price.
