Lithographic illustration by Pablo Picasso from the art book ‘le Visage de la Paix’ (the Face of Peace). The book was made with illustrations by Picasso and poems by Paul Eluard and published by Mourlot in 1951.

The piece states:

“La lumiere descend lentement sur terre. Du front le plus ancien elle passe au sourire. Du enfants delivres de la crainte des chaines”

which in English translates to:

"The light descends slowly upon the earth. From the oldest brow it passes to a smile. Of children freed from the fear of chains."

Pablo Picasso is regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century and is known for co-founding the Cubist movement. His works often dealt with themes such as love, death, war, and sexuality, and his art was heavily influenced by his personal life and relationships. He had many romantic relationships and marriages throughout his life, and his relationships with women were often the subject of his work.
