Hélène de Beauvoir was a French painter whose independent artistic career was formed alongside of her sister, the philosopher Simone de Beauvoir.
Working throughout the twentieth century, Hélène de Beauvoir created a body of work that combines expressive figuration with symbolic and often socially engaged themes. Her paintings frequently explore the condition of women, human vulnerability, and the tensions of modern life. Stylistically, she moved between post-impressionist color sensibility and a more graphic, structured approach, developing a visual language marked by strong outlines, vibrant tonal contrasts, and emotional intensity.
The piece is framed with a hand painted antique frame with a golden inner edge.
