Pierre-Auguste Renoir, original lithographic poster from 19957, with hand painted frame
Original lithographic poster with art by Pierre-Auguste Renoir for exhibition in 1957 at Bernheim-Jeune, one of the oldest galleries in Paris.
Pierre-Auguste Renoir was one of the leading figures of the Impressionist movement in late 19th-century France. Trained as a porcelain painter before studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Renoir developed a style characterized by his luminous palette, fluid brushstrokes, and his joyful depictions of modern life.
Renoir’s art celebrated beauty and sensuality. He painted bustling Parisian scenes like cafés, dance halls, and riverside leisure, capturing the warmth and intimacy of everyday moments. He became renowned for his portraits, often portraying friends or fellow artists with a tender sense of humanity. Although associated with Impressionism, Renoir gradually shifted towards a more classical approach, inspired by Renaissance masters such as Raphael and Titian. This gave his late work a timeless, almost sculptural quality.
The piece is framed with a hand painted pinky coral tone and is placed on a sand-colored background.
