Rare lithographic poster from 1950 made to promote Air France and North Africa, with hand silvered wie frame
The Air France “ Afrique du Nord” North Africa poster is an iconic piece of post - war graphic design created by the legendary French graphic artist Bernard Villemot. First designed in 1946 this artwork stands as a premier example of mid-century commercial modernism that helped define the "golden age of travel" for France's national airline. The poster is printed in Paris.
Villemot was celebrated for his minimalist style, utilizing bold, flat planes of vibrant color and clean lines to communicate complex atmospheres with extreme simplicity.
The motif shows the traditional white buildings with subtle hints of pale pink and yellow dominate the composition, while a prominent, tall minaret rises gracefully in the center.
Framed with a hand silvered wide frame placed on a light yellow background.
H 59 x W 40 cm.
