Robert Rauschenberg, Original offset lithograph poster from 1968, with hand silvered frame
The Robert Rauschenberg Musée d'Art Moderne 1968 poster is a rare piece of art history created for Rauschenberg's seminal solo exhibition, "Rauschenberg : œuvres de 1949 à 1968," held at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris from October 10 to November 10, 1968.
The poster utilizes a blue and green city collage format featuring a striking silhouette of a man climbing the Eiffel Tower alongside the event text. It mirrors Rauschenberg’s signature style of using solvent-transfer imagery, layered cityscapes, and everyday American/European motifs.
The figure in the poster is Robert Rauschenberg himself.
It was printed in Paris by the Imprimerie Mazarine as an edition of only 500 copies.
