Pablo Picasso, original lithographic poster from 1972, with double frame
Pablo Picasso, original lithographic poster from 1972, with double frame
Original lithographic poster with artwork by Pablo Picasso for exhibition at Galerie Beyeler Poster 1972.
The central image on the poster reproduces a work Picasso created on 27 July 1938. The seated woman wearing a wide hat is rendered in Picasso’s late 1930s style. This shows in her angular facial construction, multiple viewpoints combined in one face, bold contour lines, and decorative patterning. During this period, Picasso was portraying Dora Maar, his companion at the time, in highly expressive and often psychologically charged compositions.
Pablo Picasso is regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century and is known for co-founding the Cubist movement. His art was heavily influenced by his personal life and relationships. He had many romantic relationships and marriages throughout his life, and his relationships with women were often the subject of his work.
The piece is framed with a wide double frame with a yellow and orange tone and is placed on a light background.
H 98 x W 75 cm.
