Jean Piaubert, original lithographic poster from 1951, with antique frame
Original lithographic poster with art by Jean Piaubert for exhibition at Galerie de Beaune in 1951. Printed on thick arches paper.
The exhibition was called Small Formats by Piaubert, therefore with a reproduction of a small work on the poster.
Jean Piaubert was a French painter associated with postwar abstraction, best known for his richly textured, luminous compositions that evoke natural and cosmic landscapes. Born in Paris, Piaubert initially worked in a more figurative style before turning toward abstraction in the 1940s. His work is sometimes described as “abstraction lyrique” (lyrical abstraction), though it also connects to the broader movement of Art Informel, which emphasized spontaneity and materiality after World War II.
The piece is framed with an antique gilded frame in orange and light lilac.
H58 x W45 cm.
