The dedication states:

“Pour Aline Sever en hommage et en toute sympathie, avec le souvenir de Trouville qu’elle connaît si bien…”

Which translates to ‘To Aline Sever, In tribute and with deepest sympathy, with the memory of Trouville, which she knows so well...’

André Hambourg was a French painter known for his luminous, lyrical landscapes, seascapes, and scenes of Mediterranean life. His work is closely associated with light, movement, and a sense of poetic realism, placing him in the tradition of French modern landscape painting with a distinctive post-impressionist and occasionally expressionist flair.
