Pablo Picasso, original lithographic poster from 1966, with hand painted frame
Original lithographic poster with art by Pablo Picasso for exhibition at Mairie de Vallauris in 1966. Made in 1200 copies.
The motif is Jacqueline Picasso or Jacqueline Roque, who was best known as the muse and second wife of Pablo Picasso. Their marriage lasted 11 years until his death, during which time he created over 400 portraits of her, more than any of Picasso's other loves.
Pablo Picasso is regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century and is known for co-founding the Cubist movement. His works often dealt with themes such as love, death, war, and sexuality, and his art was heavily influenced by his personal life and relationships. He had many romantic relationships and marriages throughout his life, and his relationships with women were often the subject of his work.
The poster is framed with a hand painted and patinated frame with leaf detailing, sand-colored passepartout, and a creme background.
