Rare original lithographic invitation for exhibition of her art work ‘Le Rêve de Diane’ (Diana’s Dream) in Paris 1970. The piece was a a monumental painted polyester sculpture. It exemplifies Saint Phalle's exploration of personal mythology and the subconscious. The sculpture presents an enchanted theater within the mind of the sleeping warrior goddess Diana, featuring a blend of menacing creatures and positive symbols like hearts and the sun.
Niki de Saint Phalle was a French-American artist renowned for her vibrant and provocative works, particularly her sculptures and large-scale installations. She is best known for her brightly colored, l female figures known as the "Nanas" and her pioneering use of mixed media and unconventional materials. She was one of the few female monumental sculptors and is known for her social commitment and work as well as for her long relationship and collaboration with the artist Jean Tinguely. As a feminist, activist, and iconoclast, de Saint Phalle explored themes of gender, politics, violence, and personal trauma throughout her career.
