Hsiao Chin was a pioneering abstract painter who helped connect Eastern spiritual philosophy with Western modern art. Born in Shanghai and raised in Taiwan, he co-founded Taiwan’s first major abstract art group in the 1950s before moving to Europe, where he became active in international avant-garde circles. His vibrant, geometric paintings explore energy, meditation, and cosmic balance. Today he is regarded as one of the most important figures in modern Chinese abstract art and a cultural bridge between Asia and Europe.
