Rémy Duval was a French painter active in the 1960s, associated with the lively Paris gallery scene of the Left Bank. He worked in a bold, expressive manner with an approach influenced by post-war French expressionism. The forms are simplified and slightly abstracted, emphasizing color contrast and painterly energy rather than fine detail.

The piece is framed with an antique very patinated frame dark blue-gray frame with golden accents and is placed on a light background.
