DKK 2,700.00

Beautiful original oil painting by unknown Danish artist. Text on the backside of the painting translates to "To mom and dad” and the pieces is marked with Paris, March 1926.

Oil painting was the dominant and most respected artistic medium, and it became the main vehicle for introducing modernism into Danish art.

After World War I, Danish artists were increasingly influenced by Paris. Many traveled to France and returned inspired by Cubism, Fauvism, and modern color theory. Oil paint, with its richness and flexibility, allowed them to experiment with bold color fields, simplified forms, and new compositional structures. The 1920s are often seen as the decade when Danish painting fully shifted from late naturalism toward modernist expression.

Please note that there are smaller cracks in the paint and scratches in the canvas caused by the age of the piece and the nature of the paint.

The piece is framed with an antique gilded and patinated frame with elegant detailing.
