The beautiful print is excess made in relation to an art book with 28 prints, published in the 1970s. The book is titled "Journey in the jungle and on the savannah" and was created in a collaboration with Hans Scherfig himself who died in 1979.

Hans Scherfig was a Danish writer and painter whose work bridged sharp social critique and poetic imagination. As an author, he became famous for satirical novels such as Stolen Spring (1940) and Frydenholm (1962), where he exposed hypocrisy, injustice, and the rigidity of society. At the same time, his visual art like his vibrant “jungle paintings” filled with exotic animals and vegetation, revealed a more playful and decorative side, inspired by Rousseau yet distinctly his own. A lifelong communist, Scherfig combined politics, humor, and artistry, leaving behind a body of work that is both critical and enchanting.

The piece is framed with a hand painted frame and passepartout.
