Original lithographic poster with artwork by Pablo Picasso for exhibition at Nérolium in Vallauris 1967.

In 1967, Pablo Picasso created a lithographic poster titled Les Belles Images for an exhibition held in Vallauris, the small town in the South of France where he lived and worked for several years. The exhibition celebrated Picasso’s graphic and ceramic works, and the poster was produced in his characteristic bold, linear style.

This piece is titled “Woman sleeping and sleeping figure” and was originally fourth in a series of eight on the same topic produced by Picasso on May 8, 1947.

The piece shows a topless woman laying on her back with her elbows crossed above her head, that shuts her eyes and rests while the youthful girl beside her keeps her company.

The piece is framed with a hand painted light gray frame with beautiful leaf detailing, with light passepartout, and a light sand-colored background.
