Henri Matisse, original lithograph from Verve 1945, with hand made frame
Original lithograph by Henri Matisse from the the art magazine De la Revue Verve from 1945. De la Revue Verve, commonly known as just Verve, was a French art magazine founded by Tériade that played a significant role in the dissemination of modern and contemporary art during the mid-20th century. Verve published a total of 38 issues, with the last one appearing in 1960. The magazine's legacy lives on, not only through the original issues that have become sought-after collector's items.
This piece in particular was made in memory of Angela Lamotte who worked closely with Matisse at the publisher Teriade in Paris and passed away in 1945.
The piece is framed with a vintage hand made frame with small decorative patterns in different colors and with gold and is placed on a light background.
