Original lithographic poster with art by Georges Braque for exhibition at Villa Medici in 1968. “L Oiseau de Feu”

Georges Braque was a French painter, sculptor, and printmaker who was one of the most important artists of the 20th century. Together with Picasso he founded Cubism. Braque's early works were heavily influenced by the Impressionists, particularly Paul Cézanne, and he painted landscapes and still lifes in a Post-Impressionist style.

A repeated motif in Braque’s art is the bird in flight. The bird provides both a poignant reflection on a life's work that concentrated on space and movement in space as well as the impending release of the spirit from its mortal bounds.

The piece is framed with a vintage hand silvered and patinated vintage frame and with light passepartout.
